Silver is a heavy metal that in most uses is in an alloy with other metals. Silver is the element with the highest level of thermal and electrical conductivity, and does not oxidise in water or air. However, despite its great properties, it has been relegated to a secondary position due to its high price.
It has other significant properties, such as a high degree of ductility and malleability. It is also a good reflectant of visible light and its most widespread industrial applications are found in fields such as electronics, electricity, welding, etc.
Silver also has more peculiar properties. For example, mixed with oxygen it serves as an anti-bacterial agent, so its use as a medical disinfectant is widespread.
